writebrained, rightbrained

This was on last weekend, and glad I caught some of it (while cooking and writing emails). I think I like Return of the Jedi the best, out of all the sequels and prequels and cartoon series and whatever else (I of course, haven’t watched the cartoon series.) Return of the Jedi is simple and classic, and it’s serious but not as dark as all the son-fighting father and the brutality in some of the other films. Also, I like the idea that George Lucas shot it on a very low budget, and basically faked the idea of a rich, multilayered, multigenerational epic, without doing all the homework of a Tolkien. Of course, not doing the homework on the back story is probably why the sequels and prequels fall apart….. just saying.
