Instead of the poorly taken photo I didn’t post, try to imagine waking up this morning in the aftermath of yesterday’s snow storm, the first of the season. Last night, driving home, the flakes were nearly vertical against the windshield. I turned on my high beams for a moment, and was nearly blinded by the light reflecting and refracting against an impenetrable wall of white.
In the morning, I walked out into the pristine snow to take Bella out for a walk. Luckily, it was a satisfying two to three inches, enough to crunch into, but not enough to make walking in sneakers unpleasant. It was a proper winter wonderland, with every frosted tree glittering in the bright light. My only other favorite memory today was driving into the town center and seeing two cars with Christmas trees strapped to their tops. It’s impossible not to be cheerful this month, especially because now I’m going to sit down and make some gift wishlists!
